Homage to Jesús Moncada

From the block Provisional they summon us to remember Jesús Moncada, the writer of Mequinensa, on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of its death.

I have taken the opportunity for reading the novel Shaken memory of which I extract this fragment:

Besides the work, he owed to the Segarra an inestimable thing: knowing to read and to write. When the teacher of the Severiana finished the lesson with the lady and the Tape, it started with her. 12th Catalan Conference of Information and Documentació: 19-5-2010

One year more I have had the opportunity to attend the professional conference that he organizes our School. That precisely this year it fulfills 25 years of existence. Let's be satisfied!

I leave you my notes of a session of the morning.

Table: A new model of access to the information. The contents in internet. With Manuel Almeida, journalist, Joan Carles Doval, producing of music, Juan Alía, entity of management, editor, Ernest Folch. Moderator: Julián Figueres, librarian.

There has not been any debate but answers to questions that the moderator kept on making. They all made evident the great change that has meant internet in its professional area and how they keep on adapting themselves to it. It has been specially interesting for me to compare the visions of the producer of music and of the editor.

Doval spoke from the point of view about who has already assumed the hardness of the change and sees the opportunities of the new environment. It ascertained the fragmentation of the sale (individual songs) and that the buyer really chooses, joins and decides how it wants to consume the music and, this yes, it consumes in much more amount than before. As a lack it has mentioned that the possibility to make conceptual disks has been lost. At present to introduce itself for the conventional means it is much more difficult than before. The important radios clutch to the successes not established anywhere of creating some in new. It has remembered the defense of the copyright being indispensable for the producers because in another way they could not invest in this sector.

Folch spoke from the point of view about he knows that who has to change, it is already disposed to making steps but yet does not assume the radicalness of the change. It wants to transfer the old model to the new environment. It is the situation of the publishing world. Some notes:
. screens of electronic ink to read literature
. iPad and similar for child books, guides on journey, comics, contents that require color, graphs and interactive elements.
. the current offer is of pilot test, is not the future.
. a platform of llibres-e for each autonomous community, for use of the libraries, will be made. The conditions are in study.
. figures of the offer of llibres-e in Spain: about 3.000 titles right now; 6.000 in the month of June; 10.000 at the end of year.
. 20% of novelties and 80% of background (more than 6 months for sale)
. with the platforms of consultation the llibres-e they go to losing the legal condition of book, they have to undergo 16% of VAT and they stop being subject to the fixed price. They transform into service.
. they count on offering prices of 20% at 30% cheaper than the paper version.
. in six months they will offer the commercialization for technical and university chapters of books.
. very skeptical regarding Google editions

Doval ascertains that in this country there are not plans to make digital fonoteques, and that in its sector (the music) it has always applied the iva of 16%.

Almeida says that the challenge is on making the gratuitousness profitable.

Fusionitis

This of the fusions is an evil that I knew for the newspapers. Years back it was a thing of companies that they had to grow and it now appears to first page on the occasion of the boxes that, want not want, they have to finish merged or sunk as they command the economic authorities. And go for where that without thinking it the fusionitis corresponds me of well near.

The symptoms are clear: the competent authorities, views the circumstances of the moment and after some prospective analyses, they reach the conclusion that two different entities, once joined by a direction alone and prunings of staff will maintain its function and will still win weight. It is supposed that the thinking minds have a clear project and a strategic vision of how to carry out such an objective.

If the fusion in question derives in hostile opa already can be worried the staff of the entity affected because the operation transforms into assault and destruction with the corresponding booty for the occupying entity. The fission of the matter is unavoidable when it goes to the point of effervescence of the action and the dislike floats among the remains of the shipwreck.

We will have to add guides to our background for survivors. R.I.P. the fallen ones.
