Studies, researches, enquiries and statistics, particularly, the ones carried out in Latin America, take us to infer that little -very little- it is known, worse still, is understood well, about Business Social Responsibility. In state and private means those countries in which the integral responsibility of the companies appears as formal and official way for the interdependence of its societies are of exception. In England there is "

the Community", account with almost 900 members, created in 1982 it is the biggest and one of the oldest national coalitions led by companies dedicated themselves to the corporate responsibility; in United States the concept, in general, of Social Responsibility, was generated at the end of the fifties and at the beginning of the 60, as a result of the War of Vietnam and other conflicts as the Apartheid; there were pioneer minds, as that of
Henry Ford, who promoted an authentic
RSE in its companies; in Spain it was approved, the 15th of February 2008, the creation of the State Board of Social Responsibility of the Companies; in France, on the 15th of May 2001, the French Parliament passed a law that obliges the state-owned companies to inform its Triple Income Account; in Latin America, mainly, from the private initiative, actions have been generated that are those that have given impulse to the
RSE; in Ecuador, up to the creation of the TO LEAVE (1996), people did not talk about
RSE, but about philanthropy, social work and alms, more as a stimulating means to improve the image of the companies; in the UN, the previous secretary
Kofi Annan, was, in 2000, the crystallization vessel of the Global Pact and of the Goals and Goals of the Millennium; there are systems as the
SGE 21, SA8000, AA1000; the
GRI guides adequately the elaboration of memories of sustainability. In end, there is a multiplicity of conducive world initiatives to orientate the companies to the area of the
RSE.
Far from intending with this preamble an anthology of you push them in the
RSE, we want to highlight the fact that -yet- we have not passed of the prolegomenon on the subject of
RSE. We look -with moderate optimism- that the advent, in December 2010, of the
ISO 26000 of
RS -however of its imperfections and detractions- can mark the guideline that it is managed to be blended and which to be agreed on the application of a legitimate
RSE with.
There are several leader companies, national and multinational, that apply appropriately several elements of the culture of
RSE, examples, in Ecuador: they periodically present, voluntarily, its memories of sustainability; they carry out specific actions in matters with its collaborative staff; they execute tasks in well of the environment; they have generated projects sustainable and of inclusive businesses among its communities; they achieve relations mutually beneficial with its supplying companies; that is, they act effectively listening and understanding its
stakeholders. Very well for them and for the exemplariness of its tasks, we trust that others keep imitating them.
According to one of the recent criteria of
Michael Porter on
RSE, those companies will belong, with safety, of the organizations that will not last only twenty years more, but will spread to its third generation, with magnificent results for its shareholders and its other groups of interest.
One may then be asked why has the
RSE not sunk yet, being an effective means, as it is, for
business achievements, in a massive form?
