Following shutdown: Bhutan

For Leticia Rebeca Gasca. A couple of days ago I had the opportunity of platicar with a friend who hardly went back from a journey to Bhutan. My first question was, and is all the world really happy? For incredible that seems, it said me that yes, that during its stay it did not notice anybody that did not reflect peace and satisfaction.

But, what has Bhutan of special one? During a forum of the World Bank, the representative of that country stated that although its Gross Internal Product (PIB) not was sky-high, however, the Index of Gross Happiness was highly satisfactory. Those who were there say that the mockeries were not made wait.

However, Maurice Strong, the person who it helped Bhutan admit to the United Nations, said on some occasion that "Bhutan can get to be as any other country, but no country can be as Bhutan again".

And one may not surprise, it is about the only country of the world where the hunt and the fishing are prohibited in all the territory, they do not fell trees either and in all the territory alone there are three small factories.

Its population is of less than one a million inhabitants, and in the capital, Timbu, live so alone 30,000 people. Not all of them belong to the average class, but there is not misery or mendicity either. In the rest of the country, every family has lands, cattle and a loom, so they cover practically all its needs.

The National Index of Gross Happiness feeds on the Buddhist beginnings taken root in the history and culture of the country, but its application can extend to any region that considers the harmony as beginning of social organization. This "philosophy of elaboration of public policies" gave beginning officially in 1972 thanks to the king Jigme Singye Wangchuk.

It suggested that the policies of the country would be elaborated based on four pillars: the economic development-social sustainable and equitative in the one that the growth transforms into profits for all the population; the strict conservation of the environment; the conservation and promotion of the cultural identity butanesa, and the good government responsible for the institutional and social stability on which the harmony of the daily life is based.

Since then, the concept has been perfected and has evolved. For example, Bhutan is opened to the globalization if only to do it contributes to the increase of its happiness, and until not long ago put the technologies of information and communication in the service of the project.

And for romantic that it sounds, all that is true. Today I start to save to visit Bhutan and to see it with my own eyes.

Nor one more bottle

For Leticia Rebeca Gasca. After discovering that Mexico occupies the first place in consumption of bottled water I took a decision: I will not buy even an other bottle of water.

And it is that of the hand with the business of the purified water that of the production of bottles develops, that every year it throws about two tons of plastic to the atmosphere.

According to the last report of the Beverage Marketing Corporation, the consumption of water packed in Mexico reached the 234 liters to the year for person.

It is estimated that in Mexico 70% of the purified liquid is marketed in garrafón and 30% in individual bottles. This meant 2009, in 7,800 million containers of PET thrown to the garbage. That cipher represents the daily desecho of more than 21.3 million bottles, of which 80% go to stop to tiraderos in the open air and only 20% is reused. That is another great problem, since it can take until 1,000 years a bottle of PET to degrade.

Only in United States, the manufacture of bottles to satisfy the demand for bottled water requires more than 1.5 million petrol barrels annually, sufficient quantity to provide about 100,000 cars with fuel during a year.

Additionally, the industrial extraction of the water of its places of origin can provoke severe environmental and economic unbalances, especially in countries with problems of drought.

Alternatives to the bottled water

Since I will not buy more packed water, I must be more careful to the always to bring with me a special bottle that since years ago I get used to fill up. The idea is that it is a bottle elaborated of a material resistente and whose interior is easy to wash.

The container you can fill it with water of garrafón, an alternative more ecological and cheap than the water in small bottles, since the rate of reúso of garrafones is high, in such a way that the generation of wastes is minimized.

Another option is to install a filter of water certified by NSF International at home, which indicates which pollutants it eliminates. Likewise, it is important to give maintenance to all the filters and to change them at least with the frequency recommended by the manufacturer.

Millionaire inversions, different motivations

For Leticia Rebeca Gasca. Do you think that a motivation different to the earning capacity can bring a background of 4,000 million dollars together? Do you consider it possible that a single organization generates 7 million employments?

If you remain sceptical/to of the potential of the businesses to improve the quality of life of the most vulnerable population, you must know that the interest in the care of the health has managed to raise millionaire quantities and that an organization in Bangladesh has created an excellent mechanism of generation of employments.

Of this form, the inversion of impact or impact investing can achieve impact in a wide range of sectors. Some of the most successful cases are the following ones:

- Health: International Finance Facility for Immunization was born in 2006 and it has already raised 4,000 million dollars for the provision of vaccines that could overcome 5 million lives in the next 10 years. To achieve it it used a system of bonds that was backed up by eight donor countries and that is managed by Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank. Thus, the urgent need to procure the health and the welfare has caused the creation of a great number of new backgrounds.

- Cleantech: Some time ago the clean technologies were a ground of inversion of some people. Fortunately, the sector has grown enormously and already arrives at the 148,400 million dollars in new inversions in clean technologies in 2007. Among the main backgrounds interested in the clean technology is Generation Investment Management, with headquarters in London, which integrates the sustentabilidad into the analysis of the potential of inversion.

- Development of small and medium companies: BRAC, a non-governmental organization with headquarters in Bangladesh, uses an approach of "plus inversion of the emprendimiento" to act to the people who live in poverty in a massive scale and have created almost 7 million employments through interventions of development in Asia and Africa. Its founder, Fazle Abed has been recognized with the prize "Entrepreneur for the World".
In South Africa, Business Partners International, it appeared as an organization that provides emprendimientos that includes the financing and technical assistance with an integral service. They have already invested more than 88 million dollars in different companies, 80% of which are estate of minority groups and women.

- Microfinances: The market of the microloan has grown of 4,000 million dollars in 2001 at 25,000 million dollars in 2006. One of the most successful projects of this sector is responsAbility, a firm with headquarters in Zurich that at present is canalizing more than 600 million dollars original from customers of private bank and people with high net wealth.

Earning capacity and impact

For Leticia Rebeca Gasca. Many people have not noticed it yet, but the subject obliged for the people interested in the link between the businesses and the development is the inversion of impact. But, what does it consist of?

Profitable social inversion or impact investing is also called for him, although, as in many little consolidated sectors, there are many more ways of naming the same.

In general terms, it consists in placing asset in an active way in companies and backgrounds that generate social benefits or environmental and besides they are profitable for the one who inverts.

The inversion of impact groups together to those financial operations carried out for backgrounds of inversion that, that is great amounts place in profitable projects with positive social or environmental impact, social companies.

This way, they are supported to projects with or without ends of profit and high impact, with volume of millionaire transactions and to interest rates or favorable conditions of inversion.

According to the net it WALKS (Aspen Network for Development Entrepreneurs) there are already almost 200 backgrounds dedicated themselves to promoting the growth of small and medium companies being born in all the world.

The world of the inversion of impact already is prepared to go out from its initial phase characterized by the innovation and the lack of coordination. Undoubtedly, in the following months we will observe the construction of a more specialized market and in the process of maturity.

Now the big question is if the resources that will be sufficient to create a coherent market that generates impact among the social enterprising ones, the vulnerable groups and the environment.

Renewing the Peace

For Leticia Rebeca Gasca. In the University of Stanford there is a group that it works to renew the peace; the goal is to inspire the people to use the power of the innovation to create a much calmer world. Its temporary frame: 30 years.

And although, undoubtedly, it is an ambitious vision, BJ Fogg, the leader of the project, has the conviction that it is totally possible and that the new technologies can create the peace of ways never before imagined.

To achieve it, the estudiantado led by the professor Fogg works in reduced groups, with services of Web 2.0 (Flickr, Google Maps, YouTube) to explore if they can be used for the consolidation of the peace. The hypothesis is that the new technologies, such as mobile telephones and the web 2.0, are a big tool to form beliefs and behaviors that favor the peace.

Even, BJ Fogg created a course in Stanford called Peace Innovation (Innovation of the Peace) that invites the student body to generate simple and reliable methods to measure related results with the peace.

To know more of the initiative you can visit its place in Internet. Besides, visiting the personal place of BJ Fogg is worth. It keeps reading > > >

The legacy of the most influential thinker: C.K. Prahalad

For Leticia Rebeca Gasca.Tuve the opportunity of knowing C.K. Prahalad in June 2008.

Tiempo behind had read its book "The Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid: Eradicating Poverty Through Profits" and was convinced of the power that the companies have to fight the poverty, as I keep being.

In that period it was copublisher of a supplement of Business Social Responsibility of a Mexican journal, so as soon as I found out that Prahalad would be in the City of Mexico giving a conference I moved sky, sea and earth so that it gave me an interview.

Memory perfectly that the appointment was to the 10:30 in the area of Polanco, but I arrived an hour before with my red book in the hands. Prahalad received me in a room with white armchairs and transformed that interview into an incredible conversation between two passionate people of the development. In the end, he signed my book.

That day took a list of questions and a tape recorder of audio. The list of questions I ended up ignoring it, the conversation was very interesting as to divert it with previously planned questions. The recording I erased it time afterwards, but I keep the journal of the day in which my interview was published.

On Saturday 17 of April C.K Prahalad died, when dying exhibited the bond of "The most Influential Thinker", was convinced that the businesses can change to the world. He made us think that if we stop seeing the people who live in poverty as a burden we will create products and efficient services in harmony with this market and its needs.

It argued that the multinational companies not only can gain money selling to the population with less admissions, these efforts are used besides for closing the increasing gap among the rich and poor countries. The key of its argument is the enormous size of this market, estimated in four billion people.

C.K. Prahalad said "For me, democracy and freedom they lack meaning if the people can not take an ice cream when it wants it", we drink today with an ice cream for the legacy of this big thinker.

Civil defense, common responsibility

For Leticia Rebeca Gasca. According to data of the National Center of Prevention of Disasters of Mexico, 411 people daily die in average for natural disasters: 150,015 per year.

That cipher, took me to joining me to the escort civil of the organization where work.

Instead of taking to glitter our paranoia as for seisms and other natural disasters, we should give some minutes to formulate the following questions:

Which natural disasters can happen in this area and what must I make in front of them?
If he trembles where must we evacuate?
What must I make in the event of fire?
Where is the first-air kit?

Thus, when already asking we are putting our granite of sand. And if nobody can provide us with accurate answers, investigating is our responsibility.

Before that nothing, we must answer what is civil defense? It is the system that provides protection and assistance in the face of any type of catastrophe (understand disaster) or related accident with this, as well as the safeguard of the goods and of the environment.

Undoubtedly, to be preparation contributes to reduce the fear, the anguish and the leaks that accompany to the disasters. The communities, families and individuals must know how what to make in the event of fire and where to look for shelter during a tornado. In equal way, they have to be prepared to dislodge its homes and to take refuge in public hostels and basic doctors know how how to attend to its needs.

Further on he platicaré how it has advanced the brigade and I will give them specific and practical examples to optimize the civil defense in its working place, in its school or in the home. It keeps reading > > >

The social exemption

For Leticia Rebeca Gasca. I will say a visible madness: almost all the great problems of the humanity have been solved by somebody, in some part. What is frustrating is our inability to reproduce those solutions.

And although it is also important to support the innovative ideas that can transform the world, we should perhaps dedicate more efforts to find what is working in other places, to learn of that and to adapt it to our locality.

For example, what they are making in other places against the infantile malnutrition, against the unemployment, to improve the quality of life in the great cities, etc. The goal would be to reproduce, for example, the results of a successful program of social development, but not the program at the foot of the letter. It is not a matter of cloning successful organizations, but of analyzing of the best practices and adapting that knowledge to the context and to the local culture.

One of the concepts that the work of the organizations without ends of profit can revolutionize in the world consists of that: the social exemption.

Since the decade of 1920, the exemption has been converted in one of the forms of dominant organization of our time. Today, 50% of the retail sales in United States is carried out in exemptions.

Although there are great differences between the sectors with ends of profit and without ends of profit, which limits the analogy, the exemption offers some advantages for the social companies that fight because they grow.

Perhaps the biggest contribution is the value of a proved program. Making use of the experience and the already developed knowledge increases the speed of execution and the possibilities to obtain the desired results. Simply, the replication can reduce the risk of failure. The adoption of a model recognized also can make that it is easier to attract resources.

Finally, by virtue of to belong to a wider system, the local programs can obtain access to resources and knowledge in areas as the collection of backgrounds, human resources, and the legal services that can be onerous for a single unit. They will also be capable of making use of the ideas and the knowledge generated through other places.

One of the most innovative social exemptions in Mexico is Daunis. If they want to know more, visit its place.

Are all the companies social companies?

For Leticia Rebeca Gasca. During the last decade, the social company term has been converted in an elegant way of describing to the organizations that, in its attempts at change to big scale, eliminate the traditional borders between the ends of profit and the sector without ends of profit.

However, with that a risk moves: that the "social" word decreases the perception of the value of the contribution of the ordinary companies, that is, those that since hundreds of years ago have created thousands of jobs, improve the quality of the goods and services and, finally, increase the standard of living.

For example, the intertwined histories of the businesses and the health suggest that every emprendimiento is, in a certain way, a social emprendimiento. The people tend to think that the advances in the attention of the health are the achievements of the government or the social sector. However, the experience proves that the companies have done a lot for the health of the population in the last century and a half

In the middle of the 19th century, the majority of the population of Latin America had low admissions that they destined almost in its whole to purchase food, clothes and house. Because there was not refrigeration or the capacity for the transport of foods to long distance, the majority of people subsisted with local foods, that in the case of areas with extreme climates it was translated into a poor diet meant the bad nutrition. The quality of life and the health of the population have in general improved and one of the main factors that made it possible was the increase of the consumption of products of biggest quality and better services.

In equal way, the propagation of the railroads and of other forms of transport during the 19th century allowed something almost without precedents in the history of the humanity: the conquest of the time.

The biggest movement of people and merchandise reduced the vulnerability of the population to the cyclic variances. (especially in the rural areas, although there is still a lot for doing) Incluso in the winter, it was possible to buy foods from far. As result, the consumption of meat, dairy products, fruits and vegetables increased.

Another case of success that proves that (almost) every emprendimiento is social are the cellular telephones, since they can stimulate the development of new models of business, new companies, new technologies, and, therefore, the economic growth. Several studies carried out in the last years have discovered that an increase of 10% in penetration of cellular telephony in developing countries would increase the annual growth rate per capita of the gross internal product (PIB) in almost 1 percentage point. If we consider 2% annual the previous in a country that grows, the admission per capita would double in 36 years. If its growth rate ascended at 3%, the admissions will double in 24 years. By 4% per year, the wealth for person would double in only 18 years.

The effect economic multiplier of the cellular telephones is enormous.
This growth, in turn allows improving the health and the nutrition because it allows the people to consummate goods and better services.

As Muhammad Yunus, founder of the Bank Grameen and winner the Prize Nobel de la Paz, says: "the admissions are the best medicine".

The absent women

For Leticia Rebeca Gasca. According to Amartya Sen, prize Nóbel de Economía of 1998, 100 million women are lacking in the world, because they have died in a premature way because of the discrimination and violence.

The explanations of this descent are disturbing. Is acquaintance that there is negligence towards the girls. The fetuses of girls are aborted and the babies of the feminine sex are let die as it appears. In India, the National Enquiry of Familiar Health revealed that the number of deaths of girls of 1 at 4 years is estimated in 1.5 more times than the number of deaths among the children of the same age. This is due to the relative nutritional and medical negligence towards the girls (at this age, the breast feeding finishes).

The question is, can the law on the culture? The government of India has just forbidden the echographs for the pregnant women younger than 35 years. The measure notes to prevent from the couples knowing the sex of the fetus and aborting if it is a girl, because for cultural and economic questions the arrival of a male is valued more.

However, in spite of the current prohibitions, the studies to know the sex did not stop being offered. "It pays 500 rupiahs and is saved 50,000", said the slogan of a publicity of a medical center in which prenatal examinations were practiced. The saving was referred to the money of the dowry that a family will have to pay out in the future if eventually has a girl.

In India, the males work for the family, take care of its fathers and preserve the surname. The girls leave and they get married. But the one that determines the preference for the males is the system of dowry. The practice, although it is illegal, is very used. The family of the girlfriend must pay the equivalent to the salary of several years of a worker as dowry to that of the boyfriend. This habit can make the families remain indebted during several years.

The abortion by selection of sex, is however not limited to India. A practice has been returned generalized in Asia Oriental, and particularly in South Korea and in China. It is what Amartya Sen describes as "a sexism of high technology".

A deal: 22 words for five pesos

For Leticia Rebeca Gasca. All the mornings when I go bound for the work I see a small child asking for money in a traffic light. Some people give it a couple of coins, others ignore it.

Today there was particularly a lot of traffic in that point, so I seized the opportunity to observe the child and to think about how his being in a future and how being its life in the present. So when it approached to me and asked me "for a pesito" I suggested a deal to him. I said it "te give five pesos if you say what says me here" and I showed her the cover of a book. It tried to read, but rather started to say the letters that knew "and... n... d...". Afterwards I asked it about its age: it has nine years, but it shines of six.

Although he could not read, I gave him the five pesos, and since he left I wondered again how is it going to be its life in a future? And especially what can we make today to counteract that class of situations? Undoubtedly, we must pay more attention to the most vulnerable childhood of Mexico, clear, leaving the false solutions of the asistencialismo of side.

, Ask it the next occasion that you see to a child or girl asking for money in the street if he knows how to read, ask him its age, and wonder how we will manage to transform them into protagonists of its development. It keeps reading > > >

Less is more

For Leticia Rebeca Gasca. Less it is more, that I remember it every morning in the dressing rooms of the gymnasium. When arriving the first thing that I make is to put my suitcase in the locker, and I always see a group of girls being fixed. I am going to make exercise and return an hour afterwards to bathe and they keep being fixed. I coat myself, seen, I comb... and they keep being fixed! The problem, is that for when they finish being fixed nor at least it seems that it has been worth so much time, they shine totally artificial.
Another good example of "less is more" is given in the airports. When I go an airport likes me to see the size of the suitcases and the attitude of those who take them, since I am convinced that the dimension of your suitcase is of the size of your fears. They remember it the next occasion that go to a terminal, and especially, the following occasion that make a suitcase.
And the rule of less is more is applied in many things more: when consuming, as he writes out, in the decoration (at least in the one that to me likes me) and in businesses. We remember the KISS principle (simple keep it, stupid, or keep it short simple and).
Particularly, it is relevant to learn to consume less and better, with that refer to buying less and also to use less paper, waters, electricity, etc. That is, to satisfy the real human needs for respectful form with the environment and with those who produce goods and services.
One of the people that better explain it and that better have taken it to the practice it is Jim Merkel, a military and commercial engineer of the American armament industry that as a result of the disaster of the tanker Exxon in 1989 decided to change its life radically. Jim says:
"What I suggest is to enjoy a great quality of life with a small mark. The challenge of the ecological good sense consists in being converted in an expert in obtaining the maximum from what is minimum. It is a matter of consuming less, living better and interacting more with the environment; in exchange, its life will have more felt."

Before the earthquake what you knew of Haiti?

For Leticia Rebeca Gasca. The reality, is that for the Haiti majority it was not a common commonplace in the conversations. It was a little present country in our mind and there are those who did not know if he want the name of its asset.
And through which Haiti did it have to have been more present? The answer is simple: it is the poorest country of America.
All the attention that has been offered to the catastrophe that presents itself in Haiti is totally justified, and is besides, a clearing reflection of how in Mexico and in other countries of Latin America we live the Social Responsibility: we fasten the radar in the face of the catastrophe and the emergency and when everything returns to a "normal" state forget the importance of the solidarity.
And I bet them that although the current situation in Haiti will probably increase its indicators of poverty, in a medium deadline Haiti will stop being a subject of conversation and it will lose the "top of mind" that has gained.
A cause worthy to support is not only that one that is urgent, we have to evolve towards a vision in which we discover that the prevention is also basic. That is, that if as continent we had joined to offer it to the poorest country of America the assistance to strengthen its economics and the infrastructure of its most important buildings (we remember that the hospitals of the region and the offices of government were brought down by the earthquake) perhaps the impact of the tragedy had been smaller.
That is the invitation, we do not support only urgent causes, the prevention and the work thought in a long-term impact also is worth.

Meanwhile...

What is what is needed more in Haiti? What is urgent is some voluntary workers who support the humanitarian work. However, if this is not in your possibilities you can take one of the following articles to the offices of the Red Cross of the city where you live:

Foods:

-Cans that are opened alone
-Water in bottles of a liter
-Bars of cereal
-Eaten for baby (type Gerber)

Medicines (the brands are suggestions, what is important is the type of medicine):

-Antidiarrheic (treda, lomotil)
-Antibiotics (bactrin, ciproflox)
-Antihistamines (avapena, virlix)
-Analgesics (paracetamol, aspirin, dolac)
-Oral solutions (oral life serum, pedialite)

Medical Material

-Bandages
-Gauzes
-Antiseptic solutions (isodine, surgical soap)
-Cubrebocas
-Disposable gloves

Companies without ends of profit are looked for

For Leticia Rebeca Gasca. Every time is talked more about the social company, and every the one who understands it to its mode, which has generated different definitions (and confusions) of what is or is not a social company. And curiously, on the last seven days they have asked me on several occasions what is the social company? y which are the differences between a social company and a traditional one?

I prefer the definition that provides Muhammad Yunus, Prize Nobel de la Paz, father of the microloan and enterprising social. For it, the social company is that in which the utilities do not go to the people who possess the asset of the organization, but a social end are destined. For contradictory that it seems, we could summarize it as "a company without ends of profit".

The idea about the social company is based on the need for the distribution of wealth, one of the biggest faults of the current system.

This type of organization works with the same structure of a company dedicated to maximize profits, as that commonly we know; only that all the obtained profits are destined for the society. The transfer of wealth is carried out to través so much of the offering of lower prices, almost to the cost, so that they are accessible to the most vulnerable sectors, as of the fulfillment specific to social goals.

For example, a company dedicated itself to the installation of flats of cement in rural homes that still have ground of earth. The inversion can originate from the employers, foundations or capital of several inhabitants of the community. A goal must be suggested by that company and commit itself to complying with it, and it will have to sell its services to one more price that it does not imply than the rate of return of the invested capital and the costs generated by its distribution and used manpower. The profits will be seen reflected in the attainment of the goal that was suggested, achieved thanks to the low prices and to the participation of the inhabitants of the community in the chain of values.

The first multinational social company was initiative of Yunus and Franck Riboud, president and chief operating officer of the Group Danone. It is a project in which none of the parts obtain utility, its only goal is to solve the social problem of the infantile malnutrition without benefiting from that. They launched a yogurt that contains all the necessary nutrients for the health during the childhood to the market. The price of the product is very low, since it was not invested in the image of the packaging or in advertising campaigns.

The producer of milk was established as a plant of nearness, that is, that it was built near the community that will consume it, in order to obtain its raw material from the local production, reduce the costs of distribution and generate employments. Thus, the costs of production are low at the same time as it supports the local economy.

The social goals that has been suggested Yunus can seem distant; however, this type of companies have goals more realistic than the goals that have been suggested many multinational organizations.

It is interesting that when analyzing the paper of the social company, Yunus is very critical of the business social responsibility (RSE), since it considers that some of the companies that practice it bring only some aspects (those that are convenient them) to light, and are very few the firms that do a net evaluation of its impact in the society and the environment, and less still those that make all the results public.

Mexican social companies are looked for

The ones that I have been involved in the subject, and have always admired are several years the form in which they are celebrated and give impulse to the social companies in Europe and United States because she mentions some examples. Why not to make the same in Mexico? If they know some social company that is doing the difference I will be grateful for gmail.com sharing the case to letigasca [at] for me. Let's celebrate the social emprendimiento.

6 brilliant ideas that marked the 2009

For Leticia Rebeca Gasca. This is the period of the year in which it initiates the bombardment of lists, countings, conteos, etc... So I will join to recapitulate the more six ideas that they marked the year for me, and for many people. I clarify that it is a listing totally personal, and that I would love my knowing the ideas that marked your year.

1. Social Companies

Behind every social challenge there is a business solution, the idea about the social company is simply fantastic because of that and it is a big engine for the generation of employments and the fight against the poverty. Besides, the people tend at the front of social companies to be very interesting and authentically embarrassing, and for whether it was little, my terminal research of the university was about that subject. Ah! And this year I knew Muhammad Yunus.

2. Blogosphere

Internet, particularly the Green Blogosphere, has done marvels to connect the people among themselves, to spread new ideas and to create a bigger community every time of interested people in environmental subjects, of Human Rights and of Social Responsibility. The best thing: it has brought together people who even if they live in different continents have found common causes to work in equipment. What better example that this blog?

3. Social nets

Twitter not only help to the people to share what thinks and lives, is also useful to raise the voice collectively, as well as to raise backgrounds: the Twestival was an excellent example. On the other hand, nets as Facebook have been an excellent vehicle to connect the people with the causes that are important to them.

4. Renewable energies

This year we, the human beings, have gone important in the path that will help us make use of the abundance of natural sources of energy, which are renewable and clean. The transition of the electricity generated with fossil fuels to which it is generated with fuels that are as abundant as the sun and the wind can do a gigantic difference in the quality of life of the future generations.

5. Control of the natality

When the population of a sort grows out of control, the ecosystems lose the balance. We, the human beings, are not different. The control of the natality is one of the most important ideas for the benefit of the care of the environment and of the fight against the poverty.
Besides, it is one of the cheapest solutions to reduce our broadcasts of greenhouse gases in the long deadline.

6. Less is more

It sounds quite abstract, but it stops being a great idea not because of that. To have less is an excellent concept in question of sustentabilidad, and besides, is a mentality takes us of turn to smaller portions of foods of bigger quality, smaller cars with better fountains of fuel, smaller homes that offer more profits, etc.
